Laban;
In today's class we were working on our new movement pieces.
We were using one of Laban's paintings as stimuli to inspire us.
His painting was an abstract piece, it mainly consisted of lots of swirls, splodges, lines etc.
Even though the piece is overall really quite random, you could make a beautiful movement performance.
So in class, we use the abstract piece of art to inspire our new movement piece, so what we did was move around the room with soothing music on and when we were turning corners in the room we had to do different movements to get ourselves out of the corner. Same for when we came towards another student in the room, however we also had to move our bodies with their and react to their movement. We were also using effort actions which are:
•Punch
•Circle
•Float
•Dab
•Flick
•Slash
We used these effort actions as well to add on to the effort graph so for instance you could do a flick but it could be direct, heavy and weight.
