The categories of movement used in our piece;
1. Travel 5. Falling
2. Turning 6. Gesture
3. Jumping
4. Stillness
At the beginning of our piece we walked onto stage-(Travel), into our starting positions and stood in neutral-(Stillness). Once the first five or so people got into their new positions it was my go to Travel into my new position, but to get to my new position I had to spin-(Turning), elegantly into a line with the others and stand still-(Stillness) in neutral until the back row got into their positions and the front row did their first eight jumps-(Jumping).
When they did their eight jumps they then had to spin-(Turning) themselves around facing away from end stage. It was then my line's turn to repeat what the first line just did and then it was the third line's turn. One we did the eight lots of jumps we stood-(Stillness) in neutral again facing end on.
After a couple of seconds of facing the front, we all took it in turns to travel around all/most of the actors on stage-(sort of representing their character) to the back of the stage when we'd stand/crouch/sit/lay in a certain position and hold it-(Stillness) for approx. 10 seconds and then we'd go into another position hold it-(Stillness) and then change back to our original position.
After we redid our original position we all held hands and the middle of the line ran forward as the people on the ends ran-(Travel) back, making a "V" shape. We then repeated this, apart from the people on the side ran-(Travel) forward and the people on in the middle ran back.
When we did this we all stood-(Stillness) back into a line, then the people on either side of the line travelled around the stage taking half the group each with them and had the others copying what they did. In the group I was with we were walking whilst crouching over-(Travel) and waving our arms in a sea like motion-(Gesture) and we were spinning-(Turning).
Once this was over we all stood-(Stillness) facing end on in different parts of the stage, when the music started we started swaying to it like we were on a boat, we then used complicity so that we fell-(Falling) and caught ourselves at the same time.

How did you find silent improve?
I thoroughly enjoyed the silent warm up, because it was something new and fresh.
It helps the group focus and I personally thought it was a lot more fun than our usual warm-ups because we were not 100% sure on what we were doing but we still went for it and that was what made it so fun, just going with the flow.
Also with the silent warm up it was bit of challenge;
1: Because we had no clue on what we were meant to be doing
2: Because we usually chat for ages.
How can you use it in devising?
You could use this in devising to let off emotion without having to talk, which would be great for acting because obviously acting isn't all about voice, it's also about gestures and facial expressions...

In today's lesson, we had some music playing and we were in group of 4-5. In these groups we had to walk to different parts of the room leading with different parts of your body.
We had to walk to the corners of the room in eight beats.
Doing this is helping us all think of different ways to travel.
This came to great use in our movement performance because we had to get in to position in eight beats and then we had to jump to eight beats, then in another eight beats we had to get into another beats.

In today's lesson we were learning to trust each other.
The reason we did this exercise I think is so that we can learn to trust each other better so that when we're performing, when we mess up we can trust the other actors t help us out.
What we did...
What we had to do was go into pairs and catch each other.
We would take it in turns to to catch each other, the first catching exercise we did was catch someone falling backwards and catch them and lean into their fall so we didn't hurt ourselves and so we didn't hurt the who we're meant to be falling. Then we had to catch them falling sideways and forward.
The next exercise we did...
The next exercise we did was "film vision".
This is where we put both our hands on either side of the side of our heads to block our professorial vision. Then we had to walk round the room with everyone else and use complicity to sense when we feel like there's someone coming up to us from the side.
The next exercise we did....
The next exercise was where we had to pretend we were on a boat, and then we would have to sway side to side as if waves were swaying a boat, then using complicity we had to fall and catch ourselves at the same time.
I think we did this to get more more focus within the class.

Laban;
In today's class we were working on our new movement pieces.
We were using one of Laban's paintings as stimuli to inspire us.
His painting was an abstract piece, it mainly consisted of lots of swirls, splodges, lines etc.
Even though the piece is overall really quite random, you could make a beautiful movement performance.
So in class, we use the abstract piece of art to inspire our new movement piece, so what we did was move around the room with soothing music on and when we were turning corners in the room we had to do different movements to get ourselves out of the corner. Same for when we came towards another student in the room, however we also had to move our bodies with their and react to their movement. We were also using effort actions which are:
•Punch
•Circle
•Float
•Dab
•Flick
•Slash
We used these effort actions as well to add on to the effort graph so for instance you could do a flick but it could be direct, heavy and weight.

Today we did silent warm up and a sequence of silent gestures. What I've done here I have taken three different gestures I saw today threw this lesson:
One of the gestures I noticed in the silence warm up was the wave.
Claire would usually do this to grab the classes attention to stop us from what we were doing of to just get us to stop.
Claire especially did this at the beginning when the class were not too sure what they were meant to be doing to get our attention and to show us what we were meant to be doing.

What improvement have I made?
I think I have improved on relaxing my body when we're doing different exercises, so that I can move with more flow and confidence.
I think the main exercise that has helped me do this is alexander position, because I usually hold a lot of tension in my shoulders and back, by doing the alexander position is has helped me release this tension so that I can move better.
